Jesus was betrayed by one of His own disciples and that betrayal led Jesus to the cross at Calvary. Men who were controlled by Satan and his demons crucified the Son of God on the cross.  Yes, if Jesus had wanted to, He could have called upon His Father in heaven and the angels would have come to release Him from the cross and would have destroyed the world but because of His great love for the human race, who He had created,  Jesus allowed this to happen to Himself.  By His great sacrifice and by His resurrection Jesus offers salvation to the world.
